The bandname, title and artwork of this release predict an album filled with soundscapes of a spiritual character. And indeed, the sound structures of this cd are inspired by "The Tibetan Book of the Dead". The label describes it as 'a kind of a soundtrack for the religious rituals.' My fears of a smooth new age album were unnecessary, because on their debut album Contemplatron offers us a deep ambient sound which is far from shallow.

A track lime "Mantra" really does justice to its title. Drones swell and diminish, with the sounds of bells and gongs gently interwoven, while vague voices whisper hidden truths. Other tracks have subtle rhythmic elements or spacious electronic sounds, while remaining slow and meditative.

I found that this music with its repetive themes really has an impact on me, it makes me calm and focused, though the tracks also convey different moods. Antarabhava / The Six Realms is one of the better ambient releases I heard recently, very beautiful. (HD)

This is the second release by the new Polish label Wrotycz Records, but after hearing this cd for multiple times, I wonder why Contemplatron isn’t signed to Cold Meat Industry, or Cold Spring. The sound structures on this cd are of a very high quality!

The album is split in two parts: Antarabhava / The Six Realms and is inspired by The Tibetan Book of the Dead. In short, Antarabhava means "the intermediate state" and it is particularly used to describe the state between death and future rebirth. The Six Realms is about the six spheres of existence that are conditioned by suffering. Each of these spheres is connected with one of the disturbing emotions: ignorance, hatred, attachment, jealousy, pride and greed.

A spiritual concept, which is displayed in beautiful dark soundscapes. Obscure sounds are supported by samples of Buddhist monk undertone voices, sounding fantastic. Further, it is hard to describe the sounds used by Contemplatron. Some parts are a bit drony, others have slight percussion, malformed voices, down-pitched strings but definitely have a creepy effect.

This cd I could recommend to all lovers of CMI related projects (like Raison D'Etre) or things like Lustmord. Antarabhava / The Six Realms is limited to 500 copies. (Rule-Ant)


:: Angle-rec:
On some records, the opening track sets the tone for the rest of the album; it tells the listener that his journey will take him into this or that direction. It is absolutely false here! Indeed, the opening cut is an outstanding one, with the powerful way it uses sounds inspired by the old guard of the ambient/industrial sector - for example ZONE or even SIGILLUM S, who, like CONTEMPLATRON for this album, had chosen the theme of the 'Tibetan Book Of The Dead' at a certain point. That theme was used many a time but once again, its application is really judicious on this disc. So I was saying…after an introduction that is most ritual and instinctive, powerful, subtly psychedelic, we drift towards more electronica-oriented landscapes whose aerial and ethereal nature strengthens the esoteric vision of the project. The music remains essentially ambient, but with riffs and a groove, and of course, Tibetan chants which pepper the soundtrack at times, but they seldom occur, and for a relatively short period, and sounds that seem to be field recordings. Track after track, the music bursts into multiple intimist and hallucinated microcosmos and constantly transforms itself. Did I say 'psychedelic' above? I would use that word again. A reptilian album that is full of surprises. Way way recommended!


:: Soleil Noir:
The spiritual concept behind this record, the second release on Polish label Wrotycz, is at least as important the music here (...) Basically this is impressively creepy, drony ambient music, with well chosen samples (Tibetan monks' voices and instruments sure to send a shiver up your spine, for example) and immense electronic landscapes. If you are into buddhism, then this is a must-have, recorded by people who clearly have studied their subject matter and who master perfectly industrial ambient in the best CMI style. (Lars K)


:: Alternation:
Definitely, pure contemplation. Winding thin thread around the thin fingers... Long entwines with long, dead merges with dead. The circulation of warm air, remaining in meditation... what my awareness of the fact that I don't know is...?

High class ambient. I go beyond the sounds, beyond the frames of recording, beyond the silent remaining in myself, beyond myself in remaining. At the moment I'm listening to those breaths of the dead for the third time and I'm glad that I'm not in suspension. I want to listen to what they're saying. Gently, subtly, though impatiently filling the space with the darkness.

After the last traumatic experiences with the cover of an album I'm happy that I wasn't given a chance to know the visual fulfilment of these perfect sounds. I enter the world of the creators of this project totally unaware then. At the beginning it seemed too neutral as I concentrated only on it, on its first layer. The first layer is nothing more that the recording of the sound, that's clear I believe. It's an invitation, perhaps a bit shy, to open oneself. The first time is only a congealment with a big question mark on your forehead. It's entering into oneself, accepting the invitation that provides the music image of the meanings;the colours important only to us. In order to know the part of advantages of "Contemplatron" better it's worth going deeper. Now it's slightly after midnight... How great it is to breath in the rhythm, inertness, in congealment of the night. Yes, to describe the music as the night's companion would be accurate. I recommend it to all who like such exhalation. My favourite track is "Insatiable greed". It sounds as if it was suspended somewhere in the void of the universe, only the separate sounds suggest that there is an elusive life passing close to me. A little creature who observes me all the time. Like a distressing radar: perhaps it really has something in common with the insatiable greed. Sensational elements are also to be heard in the track "Permanent ignorance". Like a howling of "something": a wolf or other wild creature, somewhere far beyond us. "Enslaving desire" nicely corresponds with the motive building "the action" consequently.

The only thing I wonder is... is it the specific "blurring" of thoughts? The tread doesn't want to unfold at times... I loose my way; it's not about transcendence. It's about what it invites to and what it cannot always cope with. Perhaps my mistake is that I compare it to Raison d'Etre or Cophnia, Lustmord. It's just that the way Contemplatron presents us with seems wide, straight and visible up till the horizon. Sometimes I stumble over a big stone, so it's worth going that way. (Nathashah)


:: Aural Pressure:
Representing an album from both an artist and label I have not come across before, Contemplatron are promoted as being a product of the dark ambient genre. As for the album's concept, it is broken up into two parts, where the first section was inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead, whilst the second half relates to the six realms of Buddhist Tradition that symbolises the destructive emotions of ignorance, hatred, enslaving desire, jealousy, pride & greed. Despite drawing on quite reasonable topics, what is musically achieved is a rather standard dark ambient album that would sit comfortably alongside many artists' of the early 1990's.

There is in essence nothing wrong with this album given it does what it does quite well. However with selected dark ambient artists in recent years really pushing the envelope of what can be achieved with such a genre and style (Inade and Herbst9 are two which come to mind), this comes across as rather mediocre in comparison. For my ear this perception really comes down to the tempo of material which meanders along at a catatonic pace with chanting choirs, cyclic drones, cavernous shafts of sound, muted percussion, minor key melodies etc. Primarily the problem is with a lack of overall dynamics, yet despite its subdued qualities there is just a touch too much going on to qualify for the isolationist / minimalist tag.

As such, I doubt that anyone would be severely disappointed by Contemplatron's offering (that spans 12 tracks over 70 minutes), yet this does not negate the fact that many other artists have previously covered similar territory. (RJS)


:: Kuolleen Musiikin Yhdistys (the Dead Music Union):
Bardo-Thodul, the Tibetan book of the Dead, is a common enough theme in industrial music to be called a cliché. Polish artist Contemplatron has nevertheless succeeded in making a very impressive and creative interpretation of it on this debut album.

The album, encased in a beautiful cardboard sleeve, is divided into two parts: the first six tracks (Antarabhâva) deal with the states between death and rebirth, and the latter half with man´s six destructive emotions. It is refreshing to hear how the Antarabhâva-section, dealing with death, is not at all that dark or desolate, but rather creates the feeling of a cosmic journey. Contemplatron has a bold way of using retro sounds and combining them with organic sound sources. There is a hint of new age-influence in the whole, which for the album, giving it a unique flavour. Space sounds and synth melodies mix surprisingly beautifully with percussion, ritual instruments and Tibetan throat song. Although the album works a lot with monotonous repetition, it is does not get stuck in place, but has a dynamic, evolving nature. In a way it is interesting to compare Contemplatron with some of Peter Andersson´s side-projects, because it sounds very much like a meeting of Atomine Elektrine and Svasti-Ayanam.

The second part, The Six Realms, is darker and closer to traditional dark ambient, but also very well made, with a living and organic sound and structure.

I would not go as far as calling this a masterpiece, but rather an exceptionally successful, original and fascinating debut album that has been spinning in my CD-player quite actively. Definitely worth getting for friends of esoteric soundscapes like Inade or even Coil. /John Björkman/



:: Guts of Darkness:
Inspiré du "Livre des morts tibétain", cet opus proposé par l'obscur Contemplatron est intéressant a plus d'un titre. En premier lieu on notera le grand soin apporté au packaging, sobre mais tres beau, ce qui l'air de rien contribue déja a attiser la curiosité. L'album se divise en deux sections: "Antarabhava" qui signifie "L'état intermédiaire", celui dans lequel se trouve l'esprit du défunt et les différentes étapes par lesquelles il passe avant de s'en remettre au cycles perpétuels de naissance et de mort. La seconde, "The six realms", illustre l'ensemble des six spheres de l'existence selon la tradition bouddhique, spheres conditionnées essentiellement par la souffrance. Autant d'émotions contradictoires et fortes qui revécues par l'individu apres son trépas lui permettent de s'en détacher pour s'approcher de la sagesse. Inutile de vous dire que la musique de Contemplatron se fait l'écho de tous ces états et évolutions, n'utilisant que tres peu d'éléments typiques tels que l'on serait en droit d'attendre au regard du sujet (bol tibétains ou mantras) mais au contraire en variant les sons d'une dark-ambient classique en melant électronique (limite space-ambient), basses profondes, percussions distillées intelligemment et mélodies. Malgré sa longue durée, cet album ne souffre d'aucun temps mort, les deux sections décrites plus haut le scindent véritablement en deux tout en maintenant une cohésion certaine. Parfois menaçant, Contemplatron évite cependant le piege l'exaltation doloriste en mettant tout autant en exergue le chemin que parcourt l'esprit vers la lumiere que les épreuves initiatiques décrites par la tradition religieuse tibétaine. Une sorte de mantra industriel, tres finement produit, original par son concept (meme si l'idée n'est aps nouvelle) et superbement interprété. Tres recommandé! (Marco)


:: Broken Dolls:
Contemplatron est un nouveau projet dark ambient qui nous vient tout droit de Pologne avec cet album scindé en deux (Antarabhava, tracks 1-6 et The six realms, tracks 7-12) pour un total de 72 minutes. Le concept de l'album est inspiré du livre des morts tibétain, que je ne vais pas expliquer en détails, tout est dit sur le site officiel, sachez juste que la premiere partie décrit l'état intermédiaire entre la mort et la réincarnation, et que la seconde parcourt six émotions liées a la souffrance de l'etre et de l'esprit.

Alors qu'on aurait pu croire la musique tres spirituelle, avec beaucoup de chants tibétains et autres instruments liées a la religion bouddhiste, il n'en est rien (ou presque): les morceaux de la premiere partie, bien que sombres, sont étonnamment relaxants, appaisants, et décrivent donc plus les sentiments liés aux concepts que les concepts eux-memes. "Antarabhava" est assez proche des travaux des grands artistes allemands de la dark ambient comme Inade ou Herbst9, a travers un mélange de sonorités variées, de percussions occasionnelles, de samples vocaux sombres et lointains mais avec quelques touches électroniques ou noise en plus (la saturation de "Innerscapes", le côté spatial de "Molecular Mandala" et "Vast Subdimensions"). L'ensemble, moins minimaliste et plus varié que la dark ambient des artistes pré-cités, est donc bien plus aisée a appréhender et a apprécier, ou tout du moins dans cette premiere partie. En effet, la seconde, "The Six Realms", se veut beaucoup plus glauque: bien plus contemplative, elle cherche a nous emprisonner dans nos émotions les plus profondes, a travers des nappes plus graves, une totale absence de mélodies ou de percussions. Bien plus difficile a accepter que "Antarabhava", car beaucoup plus étouffante, il vous sera difficile d'aller jusqu'au bout (et je trouve que cela manque de basses grondantes, comparé aux morceaux si oppressants d'un Lustmord par exemple) malgré le plus relaxant et superbe dernier morceau "Lazy Pride".

Voila donc une bonne surprise et un concept tres travaillé (y compris dans l'artwork, malgré une pochette cartonnée pliée en deux un peu "cheap"), avec une tres grande premiere partie, riche et passionnante, et une seconde ténébreuse a souhait, bien que parfois trop minimaliste a mon gout. En tout cas un artiste intelligent a surveiller, comme quoi la Pologne recele de tres bonnes choses. Limité a 500 exemplaires. (Hallu)


:: Angle-rec:
Sur certains disques, la premiére piéce donne le ton ou "l'heure juste" pour le reste de l'album; elle annonce a l'auditeur que son périple prendra telle ou telle direction. Rien n'est plus faux ici! Certes, la piste d,ouverture brille par une utilisation musclée de sons inspirés de la vieille garde indus-ambient – par exemple ZONE ou encore SIGILLUM S, qui, comme CONTEMPLATRON pour cet album-ci, avait adopté la thématique du Livre des Morts Tibétain a un certain moment. Le théme a été repris a moultes reprises mais encore une fois, il trouve une application fort judicieuse avec ce disque. Alors je disais... aprés une entrée en matiére on ne peut plus rituelle et instinctive, puissante, subtilement psychédélique, on dérive vers des paysages plus électronica dont le caractére aérien et éthéré vient appuyer la volonté ésotérique du projet. La musique demeure essentiellement ambiante mais avec des "riffs", un "groove", et bien sűr les chants tibétains qui viennent ponctuer le tout mais a quelques rares reprises, pour une durée relativement courte, et des sons qui semblent enregistrés "sur le terrain". De piéce en piéce, la musique éclate en de multiples microcosmes intimistes et hallucinés et se métamorphose constamment... Ai-je utilisé le terme "psychédélique" plus haut? je l'emploierais de nouveau. Un album reptilien et rempli de surprises. Et extrémement recommandé.


:: Feindesland:
Wo die polnische Dark Ambient Szene in den letzten Jahren, noch zu den innovativen Hochburgen in Europa zählte, ist dieser Trend völlig verflacht, die Kunst ist in den Schatten getreten und dafür stehen jetzt die Einnahmen aus den Verkäufen im Vordergrund. Die Flut der Releases ist bis zum heutigen Tage nicht gebrochen und es wird immer schwieriger für Käufer wie auch Rezensenten, die Highlights aus diesem Chaos herauszufiltern.

Zum Glück hat mich das kleine aber feine Label "Wrotycz Records" aus Polen mit einer Promo, ihrer neuen Veröffentlichung "Contemplatron - Antarabhava / Six Realms" bedacht. Das erste Release aus dem Hause "Wortycz Records" mit dem Titel "Kratong - The Bees of Psychic Province" war schon sehr gut innerhalb der Redaktion angekommen, Gründe dafür waren bestimmt die gute Aufnahmequalität, die hochwertige Verpackung und natürlich die hervorragende Musik - ein sehr stimmiges Gesamtkonzept.

Ich würde Euch gerne das Projekt "Contemplatron" näher vorstellen, bloß das Anschreiben gibt keine detaillierten Information über die Entstehung des Projektes oder deren Werdegang her , auch die Recherche auf einigen Webseiten ( sogar auf der hauseigenen Webseite von Contemplatron) blieb erfolglos.

Inhaltlich beschäftigt sich diese CD mit dem "Bardo Töhdol", besser bekannt unter dem Titel "Das Tibetische Buch der Toten", welches die Themenschwerpunkte Tod, Zwischenzustand und Wiedergeburt im Tibetischen Buddhismus hat. Wer Zeit und Interesse am Tibetischen Buddhismus hat, sollte sich unbedingt dieses Werk kaufen oder ausleihen, eine absolut faszinierende Lebensanschauung.

So komplex wie das Buch, was als Grundlage zu dieser Veröffentlichung diente, ist die dargebotene Musik. Es ist eine Mischung aus feinstem Dark Ambient, gekoppelt mit Ritual - bzw. Okkult Industrial. Diese CD ist in zwei sehr unterschiedliche Bereiche aufgeteilt worden - es besteht ein massiver inhaltlicher wie auch ein musikalischer Unterschied.

Der erste Part steht unter dem Obertitel "Antarabhava", wo musikalisch der Raum zwischen dem Tod und der Wiedergeburt dargestellt wird - der auch als Reise der Seele bezeichnet wird. Er glänzt durch sehr viele authentische Samples, die aus Tibet oder anderen asiatischen Kulturen stammen, die verknüpft sind mit sehr dunklen Klangcollagen - von teilweise sehr rhythmisch bishin zu sehr experimentell. Dieser Teil der CD ist feinster Dark Ambient, mit einer ganz feinen Spur Ritual - bzw. Okkult Industrial. Der Anspieltipp in dieser Sektion ist das Stück "Innerscapes" was durch Tibetischen Kehlkopfgesang und seine wahnsinnig pfeifenden Loops besticht.

Die zweite Abteilung auf dieser Veröffentlichung ist mit "Six Realms" betitelt und spiegelt die 6 schlechten Eigenschaften des Buddhismus wieder - Hass, Gier, Unwissenheit, Egoismus, Eifersucht und Hochmut. Die musikalische Gestaltung wechselt von Dark Ambient zu Ritual - bzw. Okkult Industrial, die Rhythmen werden heftiger, intensiver und erinnern zum Teil an Bands wie Herbst 9 & Inade. Der Anspieltipp ist "Lazy Pride", absolut hymnisch bis grandios anmutend.

Der musikalische Umfang dieser CD beträgt fast 73 Minuten und ist von der Produktion her sehr gut gelungen - einem guten Hörerlebnis steht nichts im Wege.

Die Gestaltung dieser auf 500 Stück limitierten Auflage, ist ein wahrer Genuss für die Augen. Ein hochwertiger Karton, der durch sein gelbes bis dunkelbraunes Farbspiel begeistern mag - für Sammler bestimmt ein Leckerbissen.

Fazit: Wer auf Projekte wie Herbst 9 und Inade steht sollte sich unbedingt diesen musikalischen Schatz aus Polen zulegen. Wir können nur hoffen, dass diese CD von Contemplatron keine Eintagsfliege war. Ein Meisterwerk auf höchstem Niveau!



:: NecroWeb Musikmagazin:
Eine feine Veröffentlichung liegt uns hier mit dem ersten Silberling von Contemplatron vor. Was sofort auffällt, ist das optisch hervorragend gelungene Cover, welches auch gleich die Neugier auf den Inhalt dieses Werkes weckt. Dieses wurde inhaltlich durch das "Tibetanische Buch der Toten" geprägt, mit den Schwerpunkten Tod, Zwischenzustand und Wiedergeburt. Inhaltlich ist das Konzept dieses Albums somit komplett an den tibetanischen Buddhismus angelehnt. Thematisch ist dieses Werk wiederum zweigeteilt, die beiden Schwerpunkte unterscheiden sich nicht nur inhaltlich, sondern auch musikalisch voneinander.

"Antarabhava" lautet der erste Teil. der sich sich mit dem Tod und der Wiedergeburt beschäftigt. Geprägt durch viele Samples, kann dieser Ritualambient bestens überzeugen – rhythmisch, düster und auf hohem Niveau. Mit "Paranoic Hatred" geht es in den zweiten Akt über, der mit dem Titel "The Six Realms" benannt wurde. Hier geht es unter Anderem um Eigenschaften wie Hochmut, Gier oder auch Egoismus. Musikalisch abermals feiner Dark Ambient ganz in der Stilistik von Formationen wie Herbst9.

Dieses spirituell angehauchte Meisterwerk offenbart nach einer gewissen Anlaufphase seine wahren Stärken, welche in düsteren Klangsphären jegliche Art von Licht verschlingen. Anspieltipps zu nennen fällt schwer, kann hier doch jeder Track überzeugen. Egal ob in "Innerscapes" oder "Molecular Mandala", mit jeder Verinnerlichung dieses Albums steigt die Sucht nach dieser musikalischen Droge. Somit kann dieses Werk in Sachen Optik, Thematik und Stilistik auf ganzer Linie überzeugen. Für Anhänger des rituellen Ambient darf es hier kein Zögern geben.

:: Kuolleen Musiikin Yhdistys (the Dead Music Union):
Bardo-Thodul, tiibetiläinen kuolleiden kirja on sen verran usein industrial-musiikissa toistuva teema että sitä voi helposti kutsua jo kliseeksi. Puolalainen Contemplatron on kuitenkin tällä esikoislevyllään tulkinnut sitä todella onnistuneella ja luovalla tavalla.

Kauniisiin pahvikansiin pakattu levy on jaettu kahteen osioon: ensimmäiset kuusi raitaa (Antarabhâva) käsittelevät kuoleman ja uudelleensyntymän välisisiä tiloja, kun taas loppuosa käsittelee ihmisen kuutta kahlitsevaa ja tuhoisaa tunnetta. Virkistävää on kuulla heti kuinka Antarabhâva ei ole juurikaan synkkä tai kolkko, vaan siinä on enemmän kosmisen matkan tuntua. Contemplatron ei pelkää käyttää retrosoundeja, tai yhdistellä niitä orgaanisiin äänenlähteisiin. Mukana on pieni new age-vivahde, joka nimenomaan toimii levyn puolesta ja antaa sille makua. Avaruusäänet ja syntikkamelodiat sekoittuvat yllättävän kauniisti rumpujen, rituaalisoittimien ja tiibettiläisen munkkilaulun kanssa yhteen. Ja vaikka levyllä on jonkin verran monotonista toistoa, se ei ole staattisen jämähtänyttä, vaan dynaamista ja koko ajan eteenpäin matkaavaa. Contemplatronia on sinällään hauska verrata Peter Anderssonin vähemmän tunnettuihin projekteihin sillä tämä kuulostaa suurin piirtein siltä kuin Atomine Elektrine ja Svasti-Ayanam olisi lyöty yhteen.

Toinen osio The Six Realms on sitten synkempää ja lähempänä perinteistä dark ambientia, mutta myös erittäin tehty, sekä soundi että rakenne ovat eläviä ja orgaanisia.

Ei tämä vielä mikään mestariteos ole, mutta erittäin onnistunut, omaperäisen ja kiehtovan kuuloinen debyytti joka on jaksanut soida hyvinkin ahkerasti soittimessani viime aikoina. Esoteerisen ambientin, kuten Inaden tai Coilin ystäville ehdottomasti tutustumisen arvoinen paketti. Kappaleita: 12. /John Björkman/

Con Contemplatron, la polacca Wrotycz Records raggiunge quota 2 dopo un buon debutto targato Kratong. Polacchi anche loro, i Contemplatron affidano il loro messaggio musicale ad una inquietantissima dark ambient ispirata al Libro Tibetano dei Morti. Il CD confezionato in una semplice ma elegante cardboard apribile si divide in due parti di 6 passaggi sonori ciascuno.

Con "Antarabhava" si vuole descrivere lo stato che c’e tra la morte ed una futura rinascita, infatti e un termine sanscrito che significa, appunto, 'stato intermediario'. Questo viaggio ha inizio con una cupissima "Mantra", atmosfere soffuse sorrette da un tetro drone che non smette di angosciare anche gli animi piu forti. "Innerscapes" non abbandona il binario della paura con una traccia piu viva, battiti piu potenti stravolti da lugubri lamenti di gente senza labbra ed occhi. "Molecular Mandala" si struttura come un rituale senza vita con timidi rintocchi di luce che piano piano acquistano ricchezza sonora. Come riferimenti siamo in zona Loki, Herbst9 ed Inade su tutti. Gli orizzonti di "Horizon of Perceptions" sono desolati e tristi nella sua ambient minimale e secca, "Vast Subdimensions" aggiunge brio con inserti tastieristici piu dinamici e siderali. La prima parte si conclude con "Shape Recycling", roboante nel suo lento e mortifero basso.

La seconda parte denominata "The Six Realms" si affida ad una tradizione buddista dove le sei sfere dell'esistenza sono lo specchio dell'ignoranza, odio, affetto, gelosia, orgoglio ed avarizia. Le coordinate sonore si riflettono in contesti piu minimali, sempre con la presenza ingombrante del terrore ma con spirito piu quieto e sussurrato. Solo "Permanent Ignorance" e dotata di un'atmosfera piu reale, fantasmi sfuggenti con finale lugubre e lamenti di morti che si riallaccia con l'angoscia fluttuante di "Enslaving Desire". "Wrathful Jealousy" introduce alcuni sprazzi di luce con folate di suoni piu chiari che nella conclusiva "Lazy Pride" esplode con un fare piu dinamico, senza perdere l'aria soffocante di questo seconda parte leggermente inferiore alla piu dinamica "Antarabhava".

Ottimo CD. Dark Ambient in ottima forma della scuola Loki Foundation, a mio avviso ben piu superiore a quella piu famosa di origine scandinava. Edizione limitata a 500 copie.

Dit is de tweede uitgave van het nieuwe Poolse label Wrotycz Records, maar na het meedere keren horen van deze cd, vraag ik me af waarom Contemplatron niet getekend is door Cold Meat Industry, of Cold Spring. The geluidscollages op deze cd zijn van erg hoge kwaliteit!

Het album is in tweeën gesplitst: Antharabhava / The Six Realms en is geinspireerd door het Tibetaanse Boek van de Doden. In het kort, Antarabhava betekent "de tussenliggende staat" en het wordt voornamelijk gebruikt om de staat tussen dood en toekomstige wedergeboorte te beschrijven. The Six Realms gaat over de zes kringen van het bestaan die bepaald worden door lijden. Elke van deze kringen is verbonden met een van de storende emoties: onwetendheid, haat, hechting, jaloezie, trots en hebzucht.

Een spiritueel concept, wat naar voren komt in de prachtige duistere soundscapes. Obscure geluiden worden ondersteund door samples van Boedhistische monniken ondertoonzang, wat geweldig klinkt. Verder is het moeilijk om te beschrijven wat voor geluiden Contemplatron gebruikt. Sommige delen zijn een beetje drony, anderen hebben lichte percussie, vervormde stemmen, omlaag gepitchte snaren, maar ze hebben zeker een eng effect.

Ik kan deze cd aanraden voor alle liefhebbers van CMI gerelateerde projecten (zoals Raison D'Etre) of dingen als Lustmord. Antarabhava / The Six Realms is gelimiteerd tot een oplage van 500.

Jako inspiracja do powstania płyty posłużyła "Tybetańska Księga Zmarłych", rytualny buddyjski tekst odczytywany zmarłemu i opisujący proces umierania oraz pośmiertne stany umysłu. To, co znajdujemy na krążku, wydaje się faktycznie oddawać klimat towarzyszący błakaniu się duszy zmarłego w zakamarkach i przedsionkach świata.

Contemplatron to pierwszej klasy dark ambient inspirowany tybetańskim buddyzmem. Coś pomiędzy minimalistycznymi dokonaniami EXOTOENDO na "Push Kara", a bardziej zindustrializowanymi dźwiękami nagranymi przez "SVASTI-AYANAM" na "Sanklesa".

Sześć utworów, z których każdy jest podróżą w nieznane. Podróżą, z której nie wraca się już takim samym. Doskonałe kompozycje. Słucha się ich z zapartym tchem, aby nie uronić żadnego z dronów, czy innych kosmicznych odgłosów. Te ostatnie, szczególnie słyszalne w utworze "Molecular Mandala" przywodzą na myśl dokonania ARECIBO. W dwóch utworach mamy też śpiewy tybetańskich mnichów. Zapętlone w całość subtelnie, z niezwykłym smakiem. W którymś momencie pojawiają się sample rozmowy, podobne jakie usłyszeć mogliśmy na płytach MEGAPTERA.

Mimo, że materiał ten w pewnych jego częściach i warstwach można porównać z innymi projektami, należy stanowczo podkreślić, iż brzmi on niezwykle świeżo i jest bardzo oryginalny. Dla mnie to istny rarytas i mam nadzieję, że w przyszłości będziemy mogli usłyszeć dalsze dokonania tego artysty. /SS/

Po roku ukazała się druga pozycja w katalogu naszego, krajowego labelu Wrotycz Records. Na opisywaną właśnie płytę składają się dwa materiały CONTEMPLATRON: "Antarabhăva" oraz "The Six Realms", co daje nam łącznie ponad 70 minut klimatycznego i tajemniczego dark ambientu. Płyta została zainspirowana Tybetańską Księgą Umarłych, której to wersy odczytywane były na łożu śmierci. Krążek opisuje wędrówkę pomiędzy życiem a śmiercią i procesy towarzyszące przejściu duszy na tamten świat. Jeśli chodzi natomiast o samą muzykę, to trzeba szczerze oddać, iż wytwarza ona bardzo dobry, mroczny i tajemniczy klimat, dźwięki są zrobione z głową i z każdą sekundą wwiercają się w umysł słuchacza i delikatnie piętrząc się wywołują poczucie lęku, niepokoju itd. Gdzie niegdzie mamy recytacje tybetańskich mnichów, co jeszcze bardziej oddaje klimat i przenosi słuchacza w zupełnie inny, niedostępny dla zwykłych śmiertelników wymiar. Słucham tej płyty już dobre parę dni i w dalszym ciągu brzmi ona niesamowicie świeżo i oryginalnie. Obok zimnych, dronowych fragmentów mamy także dźwięki jakby bardziej kosmiczne i intrygujące zarazem. Naprawdę dobra płyta, która mnie przynajmniej bez najmniejszego problemu uspokaja i wprowadza w wyjątkowy i magiczny nastrój, przy którym odpływają wszelkie troski i problemy, a o to przecież chodzi. Nie będę silił się na porównania muzyki CONTEMPLATRON do innych zespołów, powiem tylko, że jeśli ktoś lubi zasłuchiwać się dźwięki tworzone chociażby przez INADE, to absolutnie nie będzie zawiedziony tym krążkiem. Piękna muzyka w sam raz pasująca na długie jesienne wieczory. Szczerze polecam, bez wątpienia jedna z ciekawszych płyt jakie ukazały się w tym roku. /Tomasz Lewicki/

Muszę przyznać, że Contemplatron to naprawdę kawał dobrej muzyki. Nie spodziewałem się, że album "Antarabhava" będzie dziełem w pełni profesjonalnym. Liczyłem raczej na jakiś klasyczny ambient, nie wychodzący poza utarte schematy. "Antarbhava" to sanskryckie słowo oznaczające "międzybyt" lub "stan pośredni". Za główną inspirację do nagrania płyty posłużyła "Tybetańska Księga Zmarłych". Dźwięki na "Antarabhava" to muzyczna podróż zmarłego, pełna mistycyzmu, mroku i nieodgadnionych tajemnic. Dark ambient miesza się tutaj z tybetańskimi fluidami. Transowość poszczególnych utworów, a jest ich 6, wprowadza właśnie w "stan pośredni". Sam autor, zafascynowany buddzyzmem, być może buddysta, tego nie wiem, stworzył płytę pełną pasji i mrocznych wizji, ilustrujących podróż umysłu zmarłego do kolejnego wcielenia. Jeśli tak ma wyglądać ta podróż, to chyba nie mamy się czego bać... /Tomasz Właziński/

Faktyczne czysta kontemplacja. Nawijanie cienkiej nitki na chude palce...Długie plącze się z długim, martwe wiąże się z żywym. Cyrkulacja ciepłego powietrza, trwanie w medytacji...Na ile jestem świadoma tego, że nie wiem...?

Ambient na wysokim poziomie. Wychodzę poza dźwięki, poza ramy zapisu, poza ciche trwanie w sobie, poza siebie w trwaniu. Próżnia jestestwa. Czy jestem w czyimś bycie? W tej chwili słucham tych oddechów umarłych po raz trzeci, cieszę się, że się nie zawiesiłam. Chcę słuchać, co mówią. Delikatnie, subtelnie, jednak niecierpliwie mrokiem wypełniając przestrzeń.

Po ostatnich traumatycznych doświadczeniach z okładką pewnego albumu cieszę się, że nie poznałam wizualnego wypełnienia tych doskonałych dźwięków. Totalnie nieświadomie więc wchodzę w świat twórców owego projektu. Szczerze powiedziawszy nie zauroczył mnie on od razu. Początkowo wydawał się zbyt neutralny, gdy tylko na nim, na warstwie pierwszej, skupiłam uwagę. Ta warstwa pierwsza to nic innego jak zapis dźwięku, to chyba jasne. Jest zaproszeniem, może trochę nieśmiałym, do otwarcia się. Pierwszy raz jest więc tylko zastygnięciem z wielkim znakiem zapytania na czole. Dopiero wejście do środka samego siebie, do świata innego postrzegania, przyjęcie zaproszenia maluje nam muzyczny obraz znaczeń. Barw istotnych tylko dla nas. By poznać część walorów Contemplatron warto wkroczyć głębiej. Obecnie jest po północy...Jakże wspaniale się oddycha w tym rytmie, bezruchu, w zastyganiu nocy. Tak, określenie tej muzyki towarzyszką nocy będzie trafione. Polecam każdemu, kto lubi takie wyziewy. Moim faworytem na tej płycie jest "Insatiable greed". Brzmi on jak zawieszenie gdzieś w próżni wszechświata, tylko pojedyncze dźwięki sugerują, że przepływa gdzieś obok mnie nieuchwytne życie. Mała istota, która cały czas obserwuje. Jak niepokojący radar, może faktycznie ma coś wspólnego z nieposkromioną żądzą. Rewelacyjne momenty słychać także w utworze "Permanent ignorance". Jak wycie "czegoś"; wilka lub innej istoty dzikiej, gdzieś daleko poza nami. "Enslaving desire" nawiązuje do tego motywu konsekwentnie rozbudowując "akcję".

Nad czym się tylko zastanawiam...Czy to poczucie swoistego "rozmazania" myśli? Nitka czasem nie chce się nawijać...Gubię drogę, nie chodzi o transcendencję. Chodzi o to, do czego nas zaprasza, a nie zawsze jest w stanie sprostać. Mój błąd może dlatego, że porównuję do Raison d’etre czy też Cophni, Lustmorda.

Po prostu droga, którą przedstawia nam Contemplatron wydaje się szeroka, prosta i widoczna po horyzont. Momentami potykam się o spory kamień, więc warto nią iść. /Nathashah/

Nie byłem fanem ambientu... a już napewno nie dark-ambientu, dopóki przez przypadek nie trafiłem na próbkę mp3 z płyty Antarabhava Contemplatronu.

Wiedziałem, że to będzie raczej małonakładowe wydawnictwo - płytka cd-r, ale z piękną okładką, nadrukiem na płycie. Szkoda tylko, że autor się nie przedstawił na wkładce, całkiem jakby miał się czegoś wstydzić. Zapewniam, nie ma czego.

Płytka ma 6 kawałków, które stanowią jedną całość. Wszystkie utwory trzymają się jednego klimatu - jako inspiracja do powstania tej płyty posłużyła "Tybetańska Księga Zmarłych", rytualny buddyjski tekst odczytywany zmarłemu i opisujący proces umierania oraz pośmiertne stany umysłu. Gamę pięknych dźwięków dobywających się gdzieś z głebi, uzupełniają "modlitwy" tybetańskich mnichów.

Materiał klimatyczny, profesjonalnie nagrany. Mnie zauroczył. Ktoś kiedyś napisał, że ambient to coś pięknego między ciszą, a muzyką. Nic dodać, nic ująć. /Slipi/

Nazwa projektu, jak i sam tytuł wydawnictwa oraz towarzyszaca mu grafika zdradza, że w muzycznych wizjach odnajdziemy uduchowiony charakter. I w rzeczywstości dźwiękowe struktury były tworzone dzięki inspiracji "Tybetańską Ksiegą Umierania". Wytwórnia opisuje ten krążek jako formę soundtracku do religijnych rytuałów.

W pierwszej chwili miałem dwie obawy. Nie chcę się przyczepiać, ale piszę oto jakie miałem początkowe odczucia. Pierwsza dotyczyła muzyki tworzonej przez niepoważnych ludzi nie widzacych nic prócz klimatu śmierci, pomijajacych cały koncept "Tybetańskiej Księgi ŻYCIA i Umierania". Przynajmniej z czyms takim ja sam miałem kontakt. A po drugie bałem się, że może to być płyta w klimacie new age, a ja nie jestem dostatecznie nawiedzony, aby wejść w taką pozycję.

Moje obawy na szczęście nie były uzasadnione ponieważ debiutancki album Contemplatron oferuje nam czysty i głęboki ambient, daleki od określenia "płytki". Utwór zatytułowany "Mantra" można oceniać już według samej nazwy. Dudnienia i buczenia puchną i kurczą się łagodnymi aplitudami. Ten dźwiekowy oddech współ z odgłosami dzwonów łagodnie zostaje przygotowany na pierwsze partie wokalne, które ograniczają się do szeptów czy westchnień i przekazuje niezrozumiałe wyrażenia.

Pozostałe utwory posiadają subtelne rytmiczne elementy oraz bardzo przestrzenny, nacechowany zachowawczą elektroniką dźwięk. Parateatralne inscenizacje, symulacje rytuałów, łącznie z powolnym dźwiekiem nabierają medytacyjnego charakteru. Muzyka ta odciska duże piętno na psychice słuchacza (zwłaszcza mojej). Jej repetycyjne struktury czynią me usposobienie spokojnym i łagodnym. Do tego skupionym na jaśniejszych aspektach życia. Taki swoisty kultsolarny drzemiący w dźwiękach Contemplatron posiada szereg różnych charakterów czy oblicz. Nie mniej każde z nich jest miękkie, ciepłe i nie odnajduję bezpośredniego związku pomiędzy dźwiękiem, a literacka inspiracją (chyba, że radość z ciągłych zmian i nowych inkarnacji?). Koła sansary nie uda mi się i tak zerwać teraz, ale swobodnie mogę nazwać "Antarabhava/The Six Realms" pięknym albumem. Sam nie wiem czemu ta płyta tak długo czekała no to, by napisać jej recenzję. Bo właściwie w tym przypadku sprawa jest oczywista, gdyż jest to według mnie jedno z najciekawszych i najlepszych rodzimych wydawnictw z gatunku dark ambient.

Dwanaście doskonałych kompozycji, które po każdym przesłuchaniu potrafią zaciekawić i wciągnąć słuchacza w wir wydarzeń, w wyprawę w nieznane, gdzie nie ma już szans na drogę powrotną... Jest w niej coś takiego, co nie pozwala ją przerwać, to trzeba wysłuchać od pierwszych do ostatnich sekund. Wędrówka zmarłego na "Antarabhăva / The Six Realms" jest niezwykle mistyczną, tajemniczą i mroczną podróżą, podczas której nie raz przechodzą ciarki po plecach. Muzycznie oferując słuchaczom rytualny dark ambient w imponującym wydaniu. Tym bardziej cieszy, że w wykonaniu rodzimego projektu.

Muszę przyznać, że Iwona i Szymon z poznańskiego labelu Wrotycz Records mieli nosa do tego wydawnictwa, tylko pozazdrościć! Polecam fanom nietuzinkowych dźwięków. Piękna muzyka na dobranoc. Czekam z niecierpliwością na następczynię wyśmienitego debiutu.
